Anger Management Group Program

This group therapy program is offered for men who wish to resolve problems either at work or at home due to problems associated with their anger and rage. The program is of a ten week duration and is held in Ottawa.

Participants can expect to learn how to:

  • Detect cognitive distortion
  • Implement self talk
  • Identify pre-violence cues
  • Utilize time outs
  • Become assertive
  • Develop their emotional literacy
  • Increase their empathy for others
  • Reflect on unresolved issues of anger from the past
  • Identify emotional triggers
  • Implement techniques of self care and stress management
  • Maintain appropriate interpersonal boundaries
  • Understand the connection between anger and depression, addiction and other compulsive behaviour

This curriculum can also be covered through individual counselling for those clients who prefer this format.

An assessment interview is required before entry into the program. Individual counselling, either prior to and/or concurrent to the group is strongly recommended.

Fees:
The assessment interview is about 1 1/2 hours and costs $140.00.
The program is for 10 weeks, once a week for 1 1/2 hours and costs $600.00.
A debriefing session, will be held after the group program is completed and the cost is $60.00.

The assessment and group fees can be covered under private insurance.  Ask about this during the assessment.
